Newport, VT — The Memphremagog Watershed Association (MWA) is proud to celebrate three members of our team whose dedication to their communities and to watershed stewardship has been honored in meaningful and well-deserved ways.

Rivers in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System capture the essence of all waterways that surge, ramble, gush, wander and weave through our country… each preserves a part of our American story and heritage.

Montpelier, Vt. – With drought conditions existing throughout Vermont, state officials are asking Vermonters to report drought impacts. This includes wells or water supplies running out or tasting different, damage to crops and other farm losses, low water levels in lakes, rivers, or recreational areas, and any health issues related to water quality or availability. Vermonters should also consider voluntary water conservation efforts at home. 

This project is a great example of linking infrastructure improvements with community engagement. By reducing stormwater pollution and investing in youth education, this project supports both clean water goals and the next generation of watershed stewards.

If enough of us on Lake Memphremagog work together to win shoreline Lake Wise awards, we can improve the health of Memphremagog and become a GOLD Lake Wise Lake like Seymour, Echo and Little Averill. Now, wouldn’t that be great?
