Memphremagog Watershed Annual Meeting

Memphremagog Watershed Association (MWA) will be holding its Annual Meeting on August 10, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Belvedere Restaurant on the Newport Waterfront.  The agenda for the evening will be a brief business meeting beginning at 5:30 which will include Board elections and a Project Manager’s update of some of MWA’s activities over the past year followed by a guest speaker.  The public is welcome to attend.  There will also be a remote link for those who cannot attend in person.

Following the business meeting at 6:15, MWA’s guest speaker Kate Forrer, Executive Director of Vermont Woodland Association (VWA) will explore with us, a very timely topic – how forest stewardship can not only improve watershed health, but also increase our watershed resilience to the effects of a changing climate.

VWA, is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to healthy forests through the education and advocacy of the stewardship, use, and enjoyment of Vermont’s privately owned forests through delivering programs for landowners, the public, and policymakers that support forest health, forest economy, wildlife habitat, recreation, and enjoyment of forests for today and for generations to come. Before joining VWA, Ms. Forrer was a forestry outreach specialist with UVM Extension for 16 years.

There will be complimentary appetizers and a cash bar available during the evening.
